About Derek…

It’s certain that how we see ourselves is likely not how the rest of the world sees us- unless, your name is Derek Anderson, then everyone sees the same thing- a kind, thoughtful and empathetic human being, who cares about his community- one that he knows is undeserved and desperately in need of torchbearers like himself.

For most of his life, Derek Anderson made his mark in basketball, first as a member of the 1996 Kentucky Wildcats that won an NCAA championship, then as an NBA player for 11 seasons, where he later won an NBA championship with the Miami Heat in 2006.

After an exceptional professional basketball career, Derek has proven to be more by becoming an accomplished author, successful entrepreneur, dad, devoted husband, and committed philanthropist with his foundation called A.O.K, teaching young adults the benefits of random “acts of kindness” and preparing them for what life challenges lay ahead.

“Giving back makes us immortal. When that type of kindness is placed in the hearts of people it leaves a lasting impression. I want my love for others to grow beyond me and live long after I die.”

– Derek L. Anderson Sr.

My Charity - AOK

Acts of Kindness

As a mission objective, the foundation empowers youth and young adults with the resources and life skills they need to follow their dreams through educational programming and events throughout the year that teach life skills to youth with the ultimate goal of bringing this generation back to life’s basic skills of Common Courtesy, Social Cues, Self-Confidence, Financial Literacy, and Self-Actualization.

OutlierZ prequalifies each Charity as an eligible recipient prior to a campaign and at the completion of each campaign, ensuring that they are in good standing as a 501(c) 3 foundation. At the end of each fundraising campaign, so long as the Charity continues to qualify as an eligible recipient, OutlierZ will make a grant to the Charity of the net proceeds of the fundraising campaign.
